CIPN encourages members to stay attuned to injury prevention fundamentals and techniques by getting trained in one of many health and safety certificate programs. Certificate programs provide busy professionals a way to expand their knowledge and gain experience in different areas of injury prevention and related topics.

The following is a list of available certification programs:

• American Red Cross: Preparing and Getting Trained
  The American Red Cross offers a variety of trainings including CPR, first aid, caregiving, and lifeguarding.
• CAL Fire Academy
  The Academy provides training in fire protection, fire prevention, law enforcement, administration, resource management, and fire crew management.
• California Child Care Licensing Website
  The Child Care Licensing Program licenses and monitors Family Child Care Homes and Child Care Centers in an effort to ensure that they provide a safe and healthy environment for children who are in day care.
• California Emergency Medical Services Authority: Child Care and Bus Driver Training Information
  This section of the California Emergency Medical Services Authority website provides links to training information and approved training programs.
• California Emergency Medical Services Authority: Paramedic Information
  This section of the California Emergency Medical Services Authority website provides information on paramedic licensure and testing information.
• National Child Passenger Safety Certification
  The National Child Passenger Safety Certification Training Program certifies individuals as child passenger safety technicians and instructors.
• National Commission for Health Education Credentialing Inc. (NCHEC)
  NCHEC works to improve the practice of health education and to serve the public and profession of health education by certifying health education specialists, promoting professional development, and strengthening professional preparation and practice.
• National Recreation and Park Association: Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI)
  CPSI is a certificate through the National Playground Safety Institute that teaches individuals how to inspect and perform audits on playgrounds to ensure they are up to current national standards set forth by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) and the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
