Learn how to create a personalized home safety checklist |
For most children, home is a place of security, familiarity, and freedom. The home also poses unique risks for unintentional injuries that can be overlooked. Each year more than 2,000 kids under the age of 15 die as a result of unintentional home injuries. Approximately 20% of all home injury-related fatalities occur in the home. The Home Safety Council reports the five leading causes of home injury-related fatalities are falls, poisoning, fire/burns, choking/suffocations, and drowning. Luckily, home residents can take several safety measures to reduce the risk of injury and fatality in their home.
