Pedestrian Safety
|
|
Pedestrians account for nearly one third of all motor vehicle-related deaths to California’s children, but sadly they receive little attention compared with other areas of injury. In 2006, nearly 100 children and adolescents in California under the age of 18 died of pedestrian-related injuries and another 1,073 were hospitalized. Young children are more vulnerable to pedestrian injuries because their small stature makes it difficult for drivers to see them. Young children are also less capable of understanding the dangers of motor vehicles.
