A: The California Injury Prevention Network (CIPN) website provides a unique collection of resources for both new and experienced professionals in childhood injury prevention. CIPN promotes professional growth and leadership skills via online tools, resources, and training opportunities.

Q: Why should I become a CIPN member?
A: CIPN members have direct access to injury prevention resources, materials, trainings, and professional guidance. 

Q: How do I become a CIPN member?
A: Becoming a member is quick and easy.  Members are asked to complete a brief membership survey on the CIPN Membership page.   

Q: What are CIPN NewsBlasts?
A: CIPN NewsBlasts are news briefings that highlight new childhood injury prevention research, practices, program achievements, and upcoming events. To receive CIPN NewsBlast, sign up on the CIPN Membership page. 

Q: What is the Kids’ Plates Program?
A: The Kids’ Plates Program works to reduce the impact of childhood injuries by providing technical support and grant funding to programs in California that use best and promising practices to address child and adolescent unintentional injury prevention. The Kids’ Plates Program also funds numerous capacity development opportunities, such as the CIPN website, to support the advancement of childhood injury prevention.

Q: What are considered “best”, “good”, and “promising” practices?
A: “Best” practices are those that have been formally evaluated and found to be effective.

“Good” practices are those that have not been formally evaluated but use innovative approaches that demonstrate positive results.

“Promising” practices are experimental approaches to injury prevention that are thought to result in positive outcomes. 

Q: Where can I go to find county-level data for California?
A: EpiCenter is a web-based query system that provides local county and state injury morbidity (hospitalization) data and mortality (death) data.  It’s easy to use and updated with the most current unintentional injury data available.

Q: How can I participate in CIPN Trainings?
A: If you are interested in participating in an upcoming training, please register using the included links on the CIPN Trainings page. 

Q: What if I am unable to attend a CIPN scheduled training but still interested in the topic?
A: All CIPN webinars will be available for members to view after the training has occurred.
